The Highwood Theatre has a limited need-based financial aid program. If you are interested in applying for financial aid, please fill out the Financial Aid Request Form and submit by e-mail to email@example.com or mail to The Highwood Theatre Business Office. You will not be able to register until you have heard back from us. In the meantime, please send us a quick e-mail letting us know your intent to apply for financial aid and which program you would like to register for. It is important you e-mail us immediately as this allows us to hold a spot for you in the program. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee financial aid for all families who apply, but we will do our best! All families, including those requesting for financial aid, must pay the $25 nonrefundable, nontransferable registration fee.
Registration Fees: Registration fees for all programs are $25. If you withdraw from a program, your registration fee cannot be transferred when registering for a different program.
You can always pay in full at the time of registration. If you elect to put your invoice on a payment plan, the following will apply:
Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 20% of your total invoice is due at registration. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, unless a program is canceled or changed by Highwood.
Remaining Payments: The tuition balance is divided evenly by two and is withdrawn automatically on the dates specified.
Sibling Discount: There is a 10% sibling discount for siblings who register for the same program (for example, two siblings register for the same production or class).
Online payments are processed through our ASAP online registration system, or you may bring a check or cash to our office.
Faculty at Highwood are practicing artists in their field selected through a comprehensive interview and evaluation process. Many are Teaching Artists or staff members at Highwood during the year, and some join us just for summer. Faculty members are incredibly welcoming, supportive, and conscious of each student's individual needs and work hard to make classes fun and educational for everyone.
THE COUNSELORS (FOR ART SQUARED)
Artists in Training work on the front lines of Highwood's Art Squared Camp and are an integral part of the camp experience for your child. Artists in Training are counselors and help campers move from class to class, assist Faculty in classes, and help campers through any problems that arise during the day. The Artists in Training are rising 7th - 12th graders, many accomplished performers, artists, or musicians themselves, and go through an interview and training process before camp starts to make sure they are knowledgeable and prepared for camp!
Highwood prides itself in small class sizes for all of its programs, allowing curricula to be customized to fit the needs of different age groups and different types of students. We have enrollment caps for the number of campers we will allow, so sign up early! Classes within each program will be made up of anywhere from 4 - 12 students depending on the type of class.
All families will complete a health form that must be submitted before camp begins. The form does not need to be signed by a physician, but includes common health questions, emergency information, etc. These forms will be distributed in early May.
Medication: We do not administer medication of any kind. If your child needs medication, this should be listed on your health form, and you will need to make arrangements to administer the medication before/after camp, or come to Highwood during the day to administer the medication yourself.
Allergies: We do not guarantee a nut-free environment. For campers requiring an EpiPen, inhaler, or other allergy medication, we must have the information on the health form and the medication onsite before the start of camp. We provide snacks for campers during the day. We do take care to make sure our snacks do not contain nuts and are not made in processing plants that include nuts, but we do not guarantee this and do not screen products for other potential allergy sources. We are happy to try our best to accommodate special arrangements, and you are welcome to call or e-mail us with specific questions.
Behavior/Health: Please let us know if your child has behavior or health issues. We are almost always able to accommodate, but we want to make sure your child is happy and safe, and that we are able to place them in the best groups. If you have questions about whether a Highwood Summer Program is appropriate for your child, please feel free to call or e-mail us.
Campers bring bag lunches during camp. Refrigeration and microwaves are not available, so please pack non-perishable items. Campers in all programs are given a small snack in the afternoon, as well as during xPM. Parents of campers with allergies may call or e-mail to discuss special arrangements, or can bring a snack from home. Again, we do not guarantee a nut-free environment.
Campers should dress casually each day, wearing clothes that allow them to move freely.
ENROLLMENT AND WITHDRAWAL POLICY
By registering for The Highwood Theatre's Summer Programs, you agree to these policies.
The Highwood Theatre may close registration for programs that are filled, or cancel or alter classes that are undersubscribed.
If in the best interests of the camp, The Highwood Theatre reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to dismiss a camper for inappropriate or unsafe conduct at any time, without refund.
In the event of inclement weather or other circumstances beyond Highwood's control, The Highwood Theatre may determine it is necessary to close camp. We will do our best to make-up lost time when possible, but we cannot guarantee it. No refunds or credits will be issued in the event of a weather or other uncontrollable event or closure. Information about such closings can be found on the homepage of our website or our Facebook page. We will also do our best to reach parents by e-mail or phone.
The Highwood Theatre reserves the right to use photographs and creative works taken or produced during camp, without compensation, in advertisements and other marketing materials, both online and in print. The names of campers will never be publicly identified in conjunction with these marketing materials unless prior permission is obtained.
Withdrawal from camp must be made in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 15, 2017. Refunds, minus the non-refundable deposit and registration fee, will be made as soon as possible.
Any family withdrawing after May 15, 2017 will be responsible for any payments made to date.
Any family withdrawing after June 1, 2017 will be responsible for the entire tuition.
Failure to make a payment by the scheduled due date may result in your child losing his/her place in camp.
In the event that a program has reached its maximum enrollment, you may still register your child, but will be unable to make a payment. In this case, you will be notified by e-mail and placed on the Waiting List. If you are accepted off of the Waiting List, you will be responsible for immediately paying all fees due to date.
All camps take place at The Highwood Theatre in downtown Silver Spring (914 Silver Spring Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910).
The Highwood Theatre is supported in part by funding from the Montgomery County government and the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, the S. Kann Sons Company Foundation, the William and Karen Tell Foundation, the Robert N. Alfandre Foundation, Wenger Corporation, and West Wing Writers.
