Who

The Production Company is open to all interested students grades 4-12.  The only prerequisite is a desire to learn, explore, meet new people, and collaborate!  All students in the Production Company will act (in a large or small role) in the final production.

What

Welcoming students with interests in any area of theatre -- The Production Company provides all students with an opportunity to create theatre together through rehearsal, creativity, and collaboration.  Designed to be an immersive, hands-on theatre arts education program, led by a team of area arts professionals, this group of students will meet regularly to create and rehearse The Highwood Theatre's Mainstage Season of student-produced productions.  Students will have the opportunity to provide input at a variety of levels (including acting, directing, choreography, and staging) and will be consistently challenged and inspired to take risks, do their best, and develop as confident collaborators and creators. When

At The Highwood Theatre, we want our program to be as flexible as possible so that even students with conflicts can participate.   If you have questions, please contact us!

How it works:

  • We set "potential rehearsal dates" for the Production Company (see below for the potential dates).  All rehearsals will be scheduled on those dates.
  • After you register for the Production Company, you get our "Dates Survey."  This survey lists all the potential rehearsal dates during the time period of rehearsals.
  • Families fill out the Dates Survey, marking days they can and cannot make.
  • We take that information and come up with a rehearsal schedule that honors all families' conflicts.

What you can expect:

  • The first three rehearsals are required - all cast members must attend.  The first one or two initial required rehearsals are generally placement auditions.  The other initial required rehearsals are read-throughs.
  • After the first or second rehearsal, we cast the show and release the final rehearsal schedule.
  • Each student can expect to have two, occasionally three, rehearsals per week.
  • During the second-to-last week of the program, we schedule a two additional full-cast required rehearsals to make sure everything comes together.
  • During the final week, there are additional rehearsals scheduled.  All required dates and performances can be found by clicking “See details and dates” to your right.

Potential Rehearsal Days for After School Production Company:

  • Mondays from 6:00 - 8:30 PM
  • Wednesdays from 6:00 - 8:30 PM
  • Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:30 PM
  • Saturdays from 1:00 - 4:30 PM

Why

The vision of The Production Company is to develop and inspire a community of self-confident, insightful creators with a passion for collaboration, theatre, and the arts through exploration, education, practice, and performance.
