Everyone is welcome to take private lessons at Highwood! We love working with beginners who are just starting out, and we also work with students who have been studying voice, piano, or acting for years!

Our Teaching Artists are professionals working in their fields! We know that private lessons require a great deal of trust and respect between a student and teacher. Our Teaching Artists will create engaging, challenging lessons to help students achieve their goals while gaining important life skills and having fun!

We have one location in downtown Silver Spring where all of our in-house programs take place. Our private lessons, student production company and classes all take place under the same roof which helps build the tight-knit community Highwood is known for.

Our private lessons are customizable around your goals! If you want to be a classically trained pianist, we will provide that training, or if you just want to learn to play for fun, we can help with that, too! We will work toward whatever goal you want to achieve.

We offer flexible lesson times and length based on your schedule. We can fit into whatever day of the week and time of day generally works best for you. And, you can schedule 30, 45 or 60 minute lessons - we provide them all!

There is no long-term commitment to take lessons at Highwood. You may schedule as few or as many lessons as you like! And, we offer open enrollment, so you may begin your lessons any time throughout the year when it is convenient for you.

Since we offer so many other student programs, there are always new and exciting performance opportunities throughout the year! From singing and acting in a Highwood production or playing in the ensemble of a musical to performing at one of our Fine Arts Nights or even at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, there is no shortage of opportunities to showcase your talent!

Highwood offers competitive pricing with other music schools in the area. We aim to keep our costs low while still offering quality training for our students. We also are able to provide financial aid and are dedicated to never turning a student away because of budgetary constraints.
